Just Published! The Journal of Medical Internet Research (JIMR) recently published “A Digital Health Innovation to Prevent Relapse and Support Recovery in Youth Receiving Specialized Services for First-Episode Psychosis: Protocol for a Pilot Pre-Post, Mixed Methods Study of Horyzons-Canada (Phase 2)” a research protocol led by YMHTech lab director Dr. Shalini Lal in collaboration with researchers from the University of Melbourne, Australian Catholic University, and McGill and members of our team.

Horyzons is an evidence-based interactive psychosocial intervention that targets key relapse risk factors and salient domains in the early stages of recovery in individuals experiencing first-episode psychosis. First developed in Australia, Phase 1 of the Horyzons-Canada project (HoryzonsCa Phase 1) adapted the original Australian intervention within a Canadian context. After implementing adaptations to fit a different culture, language and context, the HoryzonsCa Phase 2 study protocol assesses the acceptability, safety and potential efficacy of HoryzonsCa among 20 young people receiving specialized early intervention services for psychosis in Montréal, Québec. It is the first to implement and evaluate a live version of this online intervention in a Canadian context and will inform digital health innovations with the goal of preventing relapse and supporting long-term recovery in youth recovering from first-episode psychosis.

Results will be ready early next year! Stay tuned!
